Living with someone removes every obstacle except the one that counts. You are already in the same rooms at the same hours, already comfortable, already halfway to intimate. The only thing in the way is that ruining it would mean ruining where you live.
That is the entire scene.
The situation you walk into
The shared apartment at one in the morning. Both of you are up, both of you are pretending the air is normal, and neither of you is going to bed. Your roommate is off limits, and that is exactly why it will not stop being interesting.
You are the roommate she keeps catching herself looking at. She is the one thing you swore you would not do.
Choose who you live with
The apartment does not change. Who is sitting on the other end of the couch changes everything.
Why proximity beats pursuit
There is no chase here. You already have unlimited access to each other and that is the problem. A scene like this runs on restraint rather than effort, which is why it stays slow and why small moments carry more than they would anywhere else.
Reckless is available. It is just expensive.
Move in with someone specific
If you have a particular roommate in mind, create the character first and the apartment will be quiet and waiting.
