The scene works on history, so who is standing in that kitchen matters more here than in most.
Tender, not rushed
This one is written to be careful with itself. The tone is nervous and finally honest, so the scene rewards taking your time rather than pushing. If you want something faster there are scenes for that, and this is not one of them.
Build the friend
If the person you have in mind does not exist yet, build them first and the kitchen opens on them.
